Farmer Peter Hakizimana shows off a healthy ear of maize in one of his fields where he puts into practice techniques he has learned from CBM food security project managers including using mulch, green manure (plans like lablab) which adds nitrogen to the soil, proper plant spacing and using manure and compost for fertilizer. The results are evident when Hakizimana's field is compared to neighbouring ones where the practices have not being used.
