Darren Haughian operates one of the antique combines as farmers combine this year’s CPS wheat crop on the Bear Lake Growing Project’s parcel of land on the southwest side of Clairmont on a smoky September Saturday. The crop will be sold and the money donated to the Canadian Food Grains Bank which will use the proceeds, which are often matched by various levels of government to buy grain in areas experiencing hunger. This year the need is even greater as only some of the usual crops shipped out of Ukraine and Russia are making it to areas in need of grain.
