More than 100 people showed up to protest a proposed mask by-law which will affect residents of both the County and City of Grande Prairie Monday morning at the intersection of 113 Ave and 106 Street by Centre 2000. The proposed bylaws would see masks become mandatory in Grande Prairie city in any indoor space where the public is welcome. It would kick in if either the county or city ended up on the province’s watch list when active Covid 19 infection rates hit a rate of 50 per 100,000 people in either the city or county. (More than 37 in the City or 16 in the County). If the rate dropped in both municipalities for more than 14 days the use of masks would no longer be required. The city decided to take county rates into affect as there are residents of both municipalities in the city each day.
