A moose forages for food in a stand of trees on an acreage southwest of Grande Prairie on a snowy February morning. While much of the snow cover disappeared during a recent warm spell, the ice that now covers the ground makes footing difficult for animals, as well as, results in it very hard to access grasses and stubble underneath its armour-like covering.
