Martin Ortiz pauses on his way from the locker room to the paddock to have a portrait taken with his son Cooper Ortiz and wife Ceri Morgan Ortiz Saturday, July 11 at the JDA Racetrack at Evergreen Park during the first horse race of the 2020 season which included new regulations to try to keep patrons staff and participants from getting infected with Covid 19. Ortiz stops and talks to them between each race he runs. Ceri said this year has been different as even though the horse racing community is a close knit group with families around, this year family is not allowed back in the barn area to help or visit as owners, jockeys, grooms and trainers are viewed as a cohort. Families have to be content spending time with each other in the evening at the campground.
