What about recording what makes your town, county, region unique?
Often visitors spot things that we as locals miss because the familiar becomes invisible.
I'm sure you have often heard snide remarks about tourists from other countries walking around snapping photos constantly — well the same is true for North Americans who visit other countries.
But why don't we do that at home?
After all in our own region we have the opportunity to shoot things in a variety of seasons, changing weather, with different lenses and times of day.
In other words you should be able to make the best photos in your portfolio or album from the people and places you see on a regular basis.
This summer, I would encourage each of you to take the time to not only photograph your home district, but discover it again.
Become a tourist in your own backyard. It is inexpensive and you can make "the trip" over and over again.
